Words Overheard

I believe that every child of God, whether he or she knows it or not, is granted access by the blood of Christ to come before the Throne of Grace, according to Rom 5:2. I also believe that we CAN hear the Voice of God because John 10 tells us that His sheep listen to the Shepherd’s voice. Likewise, Heb 3 talks about “if today you hear is voice….”  so I know beyond doubt that God is still speaking IF we will only hear. Sometimes we do… sometimes we don’t.

We all have moments of insight and divine understanding, moments when we know beyond knowing that we have heard that still small voice within, and moments when we wonder, “was that God?” Each one of us, no different. As we grow in Christ and His affection, we become more familiar with the sound of his sweet voice. Romans 12: 1-2 confirms to us that we can know what God’s will is. I believe it. I embrace it.

Romans 12:3 says…”do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.” With that in my heart, I confess to you who are reading this, that I am no more than you, have no more ability to hear God than the next seeker, and am only taking hold of God’s heart, eyes, ears, and voice in the same way that you as his child too are able to lay hold of.

This simple blog is an offering of faith to our Father, and a simple record of the things overheard before the throne of His grace as I come before him. Some words are spoken back to him in prayer…  some are shared with you as a word of encouragement from his heart. All of them are simply just things overheard. Jesus said in John 14:10, “The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” and in John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.”

So what did Jesus do? One thing He did was say whatever he heard Papa say, according to John 12:49-50 “For I did not speak out of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.”

Now in all sober judgement of myself, I’m pretty sure I don’t hear Papa with the same pinpoint accuracy and consistancey that Jesus did… I doubt you do either. But we all together maybe get enough of the pieces to put it all together and get the idea of what Papa is trying to speak to a world despertly needing to hear. This is my little piece of that message, entrusted to me the same as he entrusts something of his heart to you. My heart is that you will be encouraged, blessed and strengthened, and will in turn have the faith and humility to share those things that God directs you to share with this big old world he’s speaking out to.

Thank you for taking this moment to read this and to know more my heart.
